I want this series to do a couple of things: Hunger for the kind of care that comes from being in the flock of God…meaning that God may reveal the kind of relationship we should want and receive in the church. Secondly, be prompted to take on the role of a shepherd for your own family, or group of friends. Everyone can be a person who can care for and point others to Jesus. Good shepherds are really not very far from the sheep, just a few steps in front of them.
Shepherds play an important role in every nativity, but they are also important figures throughout the Bible. Just to name a few: Moses and David were Shepherds, and Jesus called Himself the Great Shepherd. God uses the illustration of shepherds and sheep to teach us about the way He loves us and cares for us. Likewise, we are to care for one another.
